Summary[]

A mishap from one of Dr. Brainstorm's inventions causes Calvin to repeat the same day over and over.

Full plot[]

Dr. Brainstorm has finished his time machine one day, and he reveals to Jack it is powered by bacon grease and intends to use it to send Calvin and Hobbes back in time so they won't interfere with his plans. Meanwhile, Calvin and Hobbes are in a heated match of Calvinball until they hear the Brainstorm Rocket land on Sneer Hill. When they go to investigate, Dr. Brainstorm brings out the time machine and forces Calvin inside. He believes he's won, but Calvin is still there, unharmed. The next morning, Calvin has an ordinary Thursday, which involves a boring lesson at school and a new Captain Maim episode airing. When the next day comes, Calvin notes some similarities in the day, made more suspicious by the same lesson and same episode. Calvin awakens, thinking it's Saturday, but his mother tells him to get ready for school. After a rigorous day, Calvin and Hobbes watch the same episode and Hobbes recaps Wednesday's events. Calvin talks to MTM about it and then tells him and Hobbes he's reliving the same day over and over again, and has to get Dr. Brainstorm to help him, but Mom says it's time for bed. The next day, Calvin and Hobbes travel to Yellowstone while MTM acts like Calvin. In Yellowstone, Calvin convinces Dr. Brainstorm to build a new time machine, since he threw the previous one out. The machine works, and Calvin falls asleep at 12:17 on Friday, when Hobbes says they missed the Captain Maim episode.
